A one-page overview of the schemes that fund BIM training in France: CPF rights, employer/funder top-ups via the EDEF, the enrolment path on Mon Compte Formation, what a certifying course is, and the applicable ceilings.
In short
A CADatWORK training course can be funded through your CPF, your OPCO as part of the skills development plan, France Travail or regional grants, or privately.
The CPF (Compte Personnel de Formation)
The CPF is an individual right attached to the person, not the employer: it follows you throughout your working life, including when you change employer or go through unemployment.
Anyone aged 16 or over who is part of the workforce: private-sector employees, jobseekers, self-employed workers, as well as public servants under their own scheme.
Rights are credited automatically each year in euros, based on the previous year's activity. They remain available until used.
Only training registered with the National Register of Professional Certifications (RNCP) or the Specific Register (RS), delivered by a listed, Qualiopi-certified provider.
You alone. On your personal time, no employer approval is required; training during working hours requires the employer's authorisation to be absent.
How Mon Compte Formation works
Mon Compte Formation is the official platform for checking your CPF rights, choosing a course and enrolling directly with the training provider, with no intermediary.
Sign up with your French social-security number, then via FranceConnect+. Your balance in euros appears immediately on the dashboard.
Search for the target certification, compare sessions and pick the one that matches your dates, format (in-person or remote) and budget.
The enrolment request goes directly to the training provider, who has two working days to respond. You then confirm your commitment online.
If your CPF balance does not cover the full cost, the platform lets you pay the balance by card or request a top-up from a funder.
Beware of phone or SMS solicitations: no serious provider will ever ask for your Mon Compte Formation login details.
Identité Numérique, mandatory to sign in
Since FranceConnect+ became mandatory, accessing Mon Compte Formation requires a certified Identité Numérique. Without this prior activation, you cannot check your CPF rights or enrol in a session.
Identité Numérique La Poste is a high-security, State-recognised identification method that confirms you are indeed the holder of the CPF account.
This requirement protects CPF rights against fraud and identity theft: every financial step on Mon Compte Formation goes through FranceConnect+.
Creation is done online with a valid ID document and a smartphone; verification is then done either remotely or at a post office. It takes from a few minutes to a few days depending on the method.
Activate your Identité Numérique ahead of the target session date: a CPF file cannot be validated until the FranceConnect+ connection is operational.
Top-up funding via the EDEF
The EDEF (Espace des Employeurs Et des Financeurs) is the portal that lets an employer, an OPCO, France Travail, a region or a trade body add extra funding — a top-up — to a person's CPF.
Covering the gap when a CPF balance is not enough for the real cost of the training, with no upfront payment required from the trainee.
The employer (as part of the skills-development plan), the branch OPCO, France Travail, the region, or a company-wide agreement.
The trainee identifies their session on Mon Compte Formation and requests a top-up; the funder validates the amount via the EDEF, after which the file is released and enrolment confirmed.
We prepare the required documents (detailed programme, quote, agreement, schedule) and liaise with your OPCO or training department to secure the request.
What is a certifying training course?
A certifying course leads to an official certification registered with France Compétences and assessed through an exam. This registration with the register is what opens CPF eligibility.
A certification attests specific professional skills. It is awarded by a certifying body following an assessment, not by the training provider itself.
The RNCP lists certifications tied to a full occupation; the Specific Register (RS) lists targeted complementary skills, such as 3D parametric design.
CADatWORK is accredited by the certifying body Formalisa Institut on code RS6037 — design of 3D parametric parts and assemblies — 19 to 21 hours, exams excluded.
It can still be funded by the company, the OPCO or self-funded, but not by the CPF. We help you choose the path best suited to your goal.
Ceilings and out-of-pocket cost
The amounts below are the current regulatory benchmarks. They are indicative and periodically revalued: your actual balance is always shown on Mon Compte Formation.
- Annual funding
- €500 per year for a full-time employee (or at least half-time), raised to €800 per year for low-skilled or unqualified people and certain workers with disabilities.
- Total account ceiling
- €5,000 in accrued rights, raised to €8,000 for those benefiting from the increased funding. Beyond this, the account stops being credited until rights are used.
- Part-time work
- Below half-time, funding is calculated pro-rata to the time worked during the year.
- Holder's contribution
- Since 2024, a flat-rate contribution remains payable by the account holder for each CPF file (around €100, revalued yearly). It does not apply to jobseekers, nor when an employer or funder tops up the file.
- Out-of-pocket balance
- If the cost exceeds available rights, the balance is settled by card on Mon Compte Formation, or through a funder top-up via the EDEF.
